GREETERS
Greeter at 9:00 am and 11:00 am service: Willing to share 20 minutes 4 or 5 times a year? Have a welcoming smile and word for others? Be a Greeter! Greeters at Traditions serve approximately 4-6 times per year. They arrive about 20 minutes before the start of the service (8:40 am or 10:40 am), take a station at one of the sanctuary entrances, and greet all comers warmly on behalf of the church. Greeter at Special services: Are you usually here for special services like Ash Wednesday, Holy Week, Christmas Eve, etc? If so, offer to serve as a greeter for those services. It takes only a few minutes and helps our services meet people with a smile. (Contact: Brenda Mathews)
MEDIA MINISTRY
Photography:
These persons need to bring both interest and
skills in still photography. The team will take
photos for the website, for special church
events, and when persons are baptized or join
the church. (Ron Jedkins)
Website Team:
Currently, a team is working to update and
improve our website. If you have interest and
expertise in this area, we need your help with
electronic front door.
Video and Projections: This team is responsible for projecting scriptures and Life application questions pertaining to the pastors sermon at the 11:00 am service each Sunday. (Contact: Ron Jedkins)
WORSHIP (Traditions)
Altar Guild: This group organizes the elements for Communion Sundays. With Communion occurring monthly and at special services like Christmas Eve, Good Friday, etc., the responsibility of this guild is very important to the worship in the Sanctuary. The Altar Guild also plans and prepares the altar and chancel area for worship and special services. With the endless possibilities during our special seasons of worship and the liturgical year, the altar guild is a good place for people with creative ideas for the aesthetics of our Sanctuary. Usher: Ushers greet & welcome worshippers . Ushers put out extra chairs when needed and show people to their seats. Ushers are also responsible for escorting members of the congregation to the rail during the services of Communion. Ushers are also needed for special seasonal services and funerals. Adult Choir: There are several adult choirs which provide music leadership for the services of worship and special services, and special programs. Choirs rehearse weekly, year round. There are also special seasonal opportunities to be a part of the adult music. (Contact: Keith Wright or Jamie Johnson)
Acolyte: Acolytes are needed to light the altar candles for 11:00 and/or special worship services. They are a very vital part of our traditional service. (Contact: Mary Journet)
Operate Sound:
Adults are needed to operate the soundboard in
the rear of the sanctuary. (Contact: Ron

Praise Dance: Different age groups provide anointed and liturgical dance for worship, special services, and special programs. Team practice weekly throughout the year. There are special times during the year for membership acceptance. (Contact:

Prayer Team: prays for the service, its leaders and its participants; prays before each service. The pastor will appoint members. (Contact: Pastor Janice Gilbert)
LIBRARY MINISTRY
Volunteer: Volunteers are needed to open and close the library for individual and small groups to read or study. Help is also needed to keep books stack neatly. (Contact: Delores Cavil)
LOCAL MISSIONS
Christmas Angel: The congregation provides reasonably priced gifts to needy kids. Some families are selected by the mission team and some are referred by the Jesse Tree. We pray that the presents we lovingly provide show these children the presence of God during His holiday season. (Contact: Delores Cavil)
Organize and distribute food for those in need: The church maintains a food pantry to help families in crisis situations with food. (Contact: Alonzo Crittendon)
St. Steven Society: Ministry which provides emergency assistance with rent, utilities and other mission projects approved by the committee. Applications are screened and approved by the committee. (Contact: Church Office)
Habitat for Humanity: Join the church as we participate in Habitat for Humanitys in this area. Please call and commit which Saturdays you would like to work and you will be contacted. (Contact: Delores Cavil or Texas City Habitat for Humanity at 409-945-4696)
Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive: Join the UMM each year to collect non-perishables at local grocery stores. Food is used to provide food baskets & turkeys to needy families. (Contact: Glenn Johnson)
Ronald McDonald House: Mission teams or church auxiliaries are scheduled to supply and serve a meal to the house residents the last Thursday of the month. Volunteers are badly needed for November and December of 2007. (Contact: Delores Cavil)
School Supply / Uniform Drive: Donations are needed for school supplies or uniforms for elementary and middle school children. All donations can be left in the church office in June, July, and August. (Contact: Delores Cavil)
Books for Africa: Bring your books to the church office and they will be sent to Africa through the Rotary Club. (Contact: Brenda Matthews)
Elisabeth's place Crisis Pregnancy Support Center: Needs volunteers for many tasks: office assistant, displays, sort donated items, donation pick-ups, coordinate baby showers, teach parenting skill, teach bible study, and serve as spiritual counselors. (Contact: Eleanor Foreman)
KITCHEN MINISTRY
Kitchen Volunteer: needed for special events (Contact: Walter Dell Howard or Nell Swan)
CHILDREN'S SPECIAL EVENTS
Vacation Bible School: Volunteers needed to be coordinators, tribal (small group) leaders and to assist with arts, crafts, music, registration, publicity, decorations, drama, volunteer coordination and various other areas. (Contact: Rev Pat Scott)
Christmas Program: Volunteers are needed to help with directing and rehearsing children, costume and coordinate children prior to pageant. (Contact: Rev Pat Scott)
PRAYER MINISTRY
Intercessory Prayer Warriors: Group meets every Tuesday morning at 6:30AM - 7:30AM for prayers that avails much. There is another prayer group which meets on Wednesday evening at 5:50PM - 6:50PM. (Contact: Rev Pat Scott)
Prayer Garden: Visit our wonderful prayer garden for a quiet and peaceful time of meditation. Help is always welcomed for up keep. (Contact: Eleanor Foreman)
Phone Prayer Chain: Be part of a group praying for urgent concerns of our members. You will be contacted by phone and asked to pray and to pass the request on to the next person on the list. Also attend monthly prayer gathering and sign up to pray for the list (kept in a book in the church office) each month.
Senior Citizens Bible Study: Wednesdays at 11 a.m.-12 p.m.- Hot Lunch provided (Contact: Pat Scott)
United Methodist Women: The United Methodist Women is an organization of women whose purpose is to know God, have fellowship with each other and contribute to local and global missions. Membership is open to women of all ages and even to those who are not members of this church. There are groups or "circles" that meet at different times to accommodate everyone. Proceeds from several projects each year go to our local church needs and missions on both the local and international level. (Contact: Shalonda Turner)
United Methodist Men: is a creative supportive fellowship of men who seek to know Jesus Christ, to grow spiritually and to seek daily his will. They sponsor a breakfast every first Saturday of the month and the entire community is invited. They assist the church in small service projects, conduct mission projects, and an annual bar-b-que dinner. (Contact: Glenn Johnson)
YOUTH MINISTRY
United Methodist Youth Fellowship: our youth engages in many social and community activities. We strive for the youth to work in love and compassion as Jesus did. UMYF participates in random acts of kindness along with programs to educate, build and change lives of the area youth. (Contact:
